Team Kick-me
Smash ‘em & Bash ‘em
For Robogames 2005 Kick-me Kate was again upgraded.
1) New “Speed 600BB Turbo” motors were installed, replacing the stock 9.6V Harbor Freights, for better speed and torque.
2) The Mtronick speed controller was traded to a “Model Control Devices UltraMinicon” which had higher amperage capabilities and “slow speed priority” in an attempt to better low speed control.
3) Small idler wheels were added to the front to help steer things straight.
4) New 3300MAH 7.2V “sportspacks” were installed for 14.4V power!
End Results: Very, very, very poor reception in the arena, coupled with nasty spinners equalled poor performance. We basically were a sitting duck/chew toy. All that power was wasted when the bot wouldn’t respond to stick commands.
Next upgrade: Better radio system (cheap FM sucks in the big box)!
